Against Capture: Contact Printing Workshop

Against Capture: Contact Printing Workshop

Alongside our February exhibition ‘Against Capture’, we will be running a series of workshops responding to the themes of the show. The fourth of these is a Contact Printing workshop run by committee member Millie.

For this workshop we will be using sustainable chemistry made from domestic items to create analogue prints on photopaper using our phone screens.

Contact prints are made from the touch of a negative image onto light-sensitive paper and exposure to light, which leads to a print the exact size of the original image. Photography, at its simplest, is a record of the presence and absence of light. Using our phone screens, we will think about the trace of the digital image and how time and touch might disrupt this seemingly binary system.

All are welcome, absolutely no previous darkroom experience is required. All materials will be provided by EMBASSY. As space is limited, you must reserve a free ticket here to attend this workshop.
