Carrier Bag Press: Form & Content Publication Launch

How does a subject shift under the lens of certain literary forms ? How does an epic poem contain a subject differently from a glossary? This is the starting question for Form & Content, a collection of ten authors.

The dialectic of form and content in writing drives this collection forward. Each an experiment, the texts in Form & Content approach form not simply as surface decoration or literary sleight of hand, but with a curiosity towards its ability to frame our entrance into a subject. Concurrently, content is the shape of these texts; how best to give form to concepts and feelings is an overriding concern. The authors in Form & Content push towards the capacity of words not simply to mean, but to shape around meaning. Writing about becomes writing around;writing within.

Carrier Bag Press is a fledgling DIY publishing platform by Maddie Lennon. Taking its name from Ursula K. Le Guin’s germinal essay, the project’s first concern is the dialogical relationship between text and design in the DIY publishing process. Carrier Bag Press primarily seeks to work with texts that experiment between subject, form, and genre.
